Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Produce high-quality, personal, and accurate forecasts for afternoon and early evening newscasts
- Create state-of-the-art graphics that effectively tell the weather story of the day and what’s to come
- Learn or improve skills with augmented reality
- Must stay active on social media and provide strong web coverage
- Passion for severe weather
- Must be willing to work alternate hours when needed for severe weather coverage
- Ability to deliver live shots and weather coverage that informs and keeps viewers engaged
- Must be involved in community and signature station events
- Be a team player
Qualifications/Requirements:
- This candidate must have a strong knowledge of meteorology with an emphasis on accuracy and personalized forecasts.
- The candidate must be a leader and team member who brings energy, confidence, and personality to our newscasts and newsroom. We’re looking for a passionate person who’s willing to learn about our community and get involved.
- This dayside position provides opportunities for growth with regular feedback and on-site training with our team of meteorologists with combined decades of experience. Our chief meteorologist has been at the station for 35+ years. He takes it upon himself to provide daily feedback and one-on-one training.
- Our weather team uses WSI and Augmented Reality to create visual, cutting-edge weather graphics that are engaging and provide forecasts that are tailored to our viewers' everyday lives.
