WVBA Announces 2023 Excellence in Broadcasting Award Winners; Honors Mark Martin

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Broadcasters Association (WVBA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, celebrating exceptional achievements in radio, television, and network programming across the state.

This year’s ceremony recognized distinguished on-air talent, investigative journalists, technical production staff, and station teams, with honors spanning community outreach, feature reporting, breaking-news coverage, creative production, sports, weather, and more.

The evening’s highest individual recognition — the Dale B. Miller Distinguished Broadcaster Award — was presented to Mark Martin of WCHS Television, honoring his leadership, dedication to journalistic excellence, and lasting contributions to broadcasting in West Virginia.

WVBA Announces 2022 Excellence in Broadcasting Award Winners; Celebrates Hoppy Kercheval

Broadcasters from across the Mountain State were celebrated as the West Virginia Broadcasters Association (WVBA) announced the recipients of this year’s Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, honoring exceptional work in journalism, production, community service, and on-air performance.

The evening’s highest individual honor, the Dale B. Miller Distinguished Broadcaster Award, was presented to Hoppy Kercheval of WV MetroNews, recognizing his decades of influential reporting, statewide leadership, and enduring contributions to West Virginia’s media landscape. 

WVBA also awarded Legendary Station of the Year to WCLG-FM of Morgantown, paying tribute to the station’s historic role and long-standing connection to its audience.

WVBA Announces 2021 Excellence in Broadcasting Award Winners; Celebrates Statewide Honorees

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Broadcasters Association (WVBA) today announced the winners of the 2021 Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, honoring outstanding achievement in television, radio, and network broadcasting across the state. 

Among the night’s top accolades: Kicks Country (Bluefield, WV) was named Legendary Station of the Year, while WOWK TV (Huntington, WV) earned Television Station of the Year.
