CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Broadcasters Association (WVBA) today announced the winners of the 2021 Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, honoring outstanding achievement in television, radio, and network broadcasting across the state.
Among the night’s top accolades: Kicks Country (Bluefield, WV) was named Legendary Station of the Year, while WOWK TV (Huntington, WV) earned Television Station of the Year.
Television winners included stations such as WOWK-TV, WCHS-TV, WSAZ-TV, WVNS-TV, and WVVA-TV, recognized across categories including community outreach, breaking news, investigative journalism, feature reporting, anchor, weather, and digital media excellence.
The radio side also saw a wide roster of winners spanning formats from country and AC/oldies to news/talk and sports, with notable station and personality awards across CHR, talk shows, newscasts, and creative programming.
WVBA leadership praised the breadth and quality of this year’s field, noting that the awardees reflect “the best in West Virginia broadcasting — delivering strong journalism, vibrant programming, and community commitment.”
