WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to the FCC's approval today of an Order modernizing contest rules for local radio and TV stations, the following statement can be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton:

The NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) and the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) today announced the winners of the Freedom of Speech Public Service Announcement Contest for college communications students. The first-place winners in the television and radio categories will be recognized during an event held during Free Speech Week in October.

WASHINGTON, DC -- One Member of the House of Representatives and one Senator have been added as co-sponsors of the Local Radio Freedom Act, a resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations.
