The West Virginia Broadcasters Association (WVBA) today announced the winners of the 2019 Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, recognizing outstanding achievement in television, radio, and network broadcasting across the state.
Among the night’s top accolades: WDGG 93.7 THE DAWG was named Legendary Station of the Year, while WCHS TV (Charleston) earned Best Television Station of the Year.
Television winners included a broad cross-section of stations such as WCHS-TV, WVNS-TV, WSAZ-TV, WOWK-TV, WVVA-TV and others — honored for community outreach, strong newscasts, feature reporting, breaking news, creative production, and digital media excellence.
Radio acts and stations across genres — country, rock, talk, news, classic hits, and more — also walked away with major awards for programming, on-air talent, creativity and promotional work.
WVBA board and leadership praised the depth and quality of entries this year, noting that these winners exemplify the best of what local broadcasting brings to West Virginia communities: trusted information, dedication, and creativity.
