WASHINGTON, DC -- In response to the death of former Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT) at age 81, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Digital Radio Broadcasting (DRB) Subcommittee of the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC) on April 16th reaffirmed two important NRSC Guideline documents dealing with measurement of RF mask compliance for AM and FM HD Radio™ stations and the transmission power of FM digital sidebands. These guidelines include handling of asymmetric sideband power levels that benefit broadcasters by clarifying the correct levels required for best coverage resulting in higher quality digital broadcast signals. The NRSC is a technical standards-setting body cosponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™.

Las Vegas, NV -- NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith delivered the annual NAB State of the Industry address during the 2016 NAB Show. Below is a transcript of his remarks as prepared for delivery.

NAB Show, the world’s largest annual conference and expo for professionals who create, manage, and distribute entertainment across all platforms, kicked off today in Las Vegas. NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith opened the convention with his annual State of the Broadcast Industry Address, and a broad range of industry professionals led sessions dealing with the latest advances in advertising, virtual reality, and content creation. This year’s NAB Show runs through Thursday, April 21.

NAB Show, the world’s largest annual conference and expo for professionals who create, manage, and distribute entertainment across all platforms, featured the debut of new cinematography and virtual reality camera technologies, conversations with Academy Award-winning editors of “The Big Short” and “The Revenant,” as well as future of over-the-top (OTT) and HDR content delivery. This year’s NAB Show runs through Thursday, April 21.

Las Vegas, NV -- The National Association of Broadcasters announced today preliminary registered attendance of 103,012 for the 2016 NAB Show, the world's largest annual convention covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums. The exhibition featured 1,874 companies spanning 1,063,380 net square feet of exhibit space.
