WASHINGTON, DC -- Nine Members of the House of Representatives and one Senator have joined as cosponsors of a bipartisan resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA) now has 177 cosponsors in the House and 22 in the Senate.

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), through its PILOT program, today announced the second annual PILOT Innovation Challenge question. The PILOT Innovation Challenge recognizes creative ideas that leverage technological advances in the production, distribution and display of engaging content. The program also provides support to the winners for development.

NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith delivered the annual NAB State of the Industry address during the 2017 NAB Show. Below is a transcript of his remarks as prepared for delivery.

Las Vegas, NV – NAB Show, the world’s largest convention encompassing the convergence of media, entertainment and technology, kicked off today in Las Vegas. NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith opened the convention with his annual State of the Broadcast Industry Address, and a broad range of industry professionals led sessions dealing with the latest advances in filmmaking, television production and content creation. This year’s NAB Show runs through Thursday, April 27.

Las Vegas, NV -- The National Association of Broadcasters announced today preliminary registered attendance of 103,443 for the 2017 NAB Show, the world's largest annual convention covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums. The exhibition featured 1806 companies spanning 1,091,792 net square feet of exhibit space.
