WASHINGTON – In response to the FCC creating procedures for low-power television stations (LPTVs) and translators to apply for a Special Displacement Window if they are being forced off the air by the incentive auction, the following statement can be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton:

WASHINGTON, DC -- Five Members of the House of Representatives have joined as cosponsors of a bipartisan resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA) now has 191 cosponsors in the House and 22 in the Senate.

WASHINGTON – In response to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit denying an emergency stay of the FCC’s restoration of the UHF discount, the following statement can be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton:

The NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) will present its Corporate Leadership Award to FedEx during the 19th annual Celebration of Service to America Awards, held Tuesday, June 20 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. Each year, the Corporate Leadership Award is given to a business outside of the broadcast industry that exemplifies an extraordinary focus on community service and corporate social responsibility.

Renowned musician and philanthropist Jon Bon Jovi will receive the 2017 Service to America Leadership Award from the NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) for his ongoing efforts to combat poverty and homelessness. Bon Jovi, whose music and public service signify the spirit of America and the principles that define the nation, will receive the honor at NABEF’s Celebration of Service to America Awards on June 20 in Washington, DC.
