WASHINGTON, DC -- The Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) should start anew in setting license fees for radio stations' streaming services that more accurately reflect rates that would be agreed upon by a willing buyer and willing seller in a competitive market, NAB said in a filing submitted with the CRB today. Previous license rates were based on flawed evidence and analysis of a non-competitive market and should not be factored into the new rates set by the CRB, NAB said.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Jane Mago, General Counsel and Executive Vice President of the NAB Legal Department, today informed the NAB Board of Directors of her intention to retire from the broadcast trade association following a 10-year career. NAB President Gordon Smith announced that Rick Kaplan, NAB Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning, will succeed Mago as head of the NAB Legal Department.

FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate discussed the value of radio-enabled Smartphones during times of emergency in this video. In the video, Fugate highlights the importance of having access to local broadcasters' emergency information when other communications networks fail or become congested.
