The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced the finalists for the 2017 NAB Marconi Radio Awards, honoring radio stations and on-air personalities for excellence in broadcasting. The winners will be announced September 7 at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show, sponsored by Experi and held during the 2017 Radio Show in Austin.

WASHINGTON – In response to reports of a Microsoft proposal to use television white spaces to provide wireless broadband in rural areas, the following statement can be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton:

WASHINGTON, DC -- Four Members of the House of Representatives and one Senator have joined as cosponsors of a bipartisan resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA) now has 199 cosponsors in the House and 23 in the Senate.

WASHINGTON – In response to the release by the FCC of its preliminary estimate of incentive auction repack costs, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:

David Field, president and chief executive officer of Entercom Communications Corporation, will receive the National Radio Award during the Radio Luncheon on Wednesday, September 6. The 2017 Radio Show, produced by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), will be held September 5-8 in Austin.

Bert Medina, president of ABC affiliate WPLG-TV Miami, has been appointed to the NAB Television Board of Directors by Television Board Chairman Jordan Wertlieb, effective immediately. Medina fills the ABC Affiliate Board seat previously held by Bill Hoffman.
