WASHINGTON -- NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith announced today that former NAB Joint Board Chairman Steve Newberry has joined the NAB as Executive Vice President for Strategic Planning/Special Projects.

WASHINGTON --In response to the Senate confirmation of FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to another five-year term, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:
WASHINGTON, DC -- Five Members of the House of Representatives and one Senator have joined as cosponsors of a bipartisan resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA) now has 211 cosponsors in the House and 24 in the Senate.

WASHINGTON, D.C./NEW YORK, N.Y. -- America's local television broadcasters have raised at least $45.1 million through on-air campaigns and direct donations for relief efforts supporting victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, according to the National Association of Broadcasters and TVB. The charitable contributions, announced today at the annual TVB Forward Conference in New York, is based on publicly available fundraising totals, social media and information provided to NAB and TVB.
