WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to yesterday's announcement by the FCC that it will consider a report and order to modernize children’s television programming rules at the July Open Commission Meeting, the following statement can be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Jordan Wertlieb, President, Hearst Television, Inc., was elected chairman of the NAB Joint Board of Directors, NAB announced today. Wertlieb takes over from Caroline Beasley, CEO, Beasley Media Group, whose term expired.
WASHINGTON, DC -- Nine Members of the House of Representatives and one Senator have added their cosponsorship to a resolution opposing "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA), which signals Members of Congress's opposition to any potential legislation that imposes new performance royalties on broadcast radio stations for music airplay, now has 175 cosponsors in the House and 22 in the Senate.
