The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced the finalists for the 2019 NAB Marconi Radio Awards, honoring radio stations and on-air personalities for excellence in broadcasting.

Mary Quass, Chairman and CEO of NRG Media, will receive the 2019 National Radio Award during the Radio Show luncheon program on Wednesday, September 25. The 2019 Radio Show will be held September 24-26 in Dallas, Texas.

Fred and Paul Jacobs of Jacobs Media will lead a Radio Show session titled, “You’re not in the Radio Business Anymore: Stories from Innovators Who’ve Made the Transition,” on Thursday, September 26.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to today's FCC vote approving a report and order modernizing children’s television programming rules, the following statement can be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Every three years, local TV stations are required to elect either “retransmission consent” or mandatory “must-carry” of their broadcast signal on pay-TV systems. Under the Federal Communications Commission’s current rules, broadcasters must provide notice of these elections to each cable system and satellite provider via certified mail every three years.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Six Members of the House of Representatives and one Senator have added their cosponsorship to a resolution opposing "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA), which signals Members of Congress's opposition to any potential legislation that imposes new performance royalties on broadcast radio stations for music airplay, now has 181 cosponsors in the House and 23 in the Senate.
