Japanese public broadcaster NHK will present the latest iteration of its Super Hi-Vision system at the 2014 NAB Show, including a closed-circuit demonstration of over-the-air transmission of 8K content in a single 6 MHz UHF TV channel. This will be the first time anywhere in the world outside Japan that wireless transmission of 8K Super Hi-Vision has been demonstrated over a single 6 MHz TV channel. NHK will also present detailed results of a long-distance, single-channel, over-the-air 8K test broadcast recently conducted in Japan.

NAB Show, the world's largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums, will bring cloud-based technologies center stage through dedicated conference programing and exhibiting companies that are leading the way and breaking new ground in cloud technologies and services. The convention takes place April 5 – 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In response to an FCC Public Notice on broadcaster Joint Sales Arrangements, the following statement can be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President Dennis Wharton: “NAB will carefully review this Public Notice, but on first blush it raises very serious procedural and substantive concerns. We would also note that in a world of massive consolidation by pay TV behemoths, the FCC seems unduly focused on sharing arrangements by two TV stations offering programming FOR FREE in markets like Topeka and Tupelo. We appreciate the strong statements from both Commissioners Pai and O’Rielly and will continue to make the case that broadcaster sharing arrangements are in the public interest.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Schurz Communications Senior Vice-President of Broadcasting Marci Burdick testified today at a House Communications and Technology Subcommittee hearing on "Reauthorization of the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act."

NAB Show today announced that AARP, Cox Media Group, Gannett Broadcasting and Tribune Broadcasting have joined SPROCKIT 2014 as founding corporate and nonprofit members. New to this year’s program, industry-leading organizational members will further the SPROCKIT mission by working alongside participating startups to collaboratively shape the future of media and entertainment.
