NAB Show will present a two-day symposium, “NAB Show @ Mobile World Congress: Capturing the Moment Through Mobile and Broadcast," as part of the mPowered Industries program at the 2014 Mobile World Congress. The symposium, sponsored by Ericsson, will be held February 25-26, 2014 in Barcelona.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Three Members of the House of Representatives from Florida have signed on as co-sponsors of a resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act now has almost 200 total co-sponsors in the House and Senate.

WASHINGTON, DC -- In response to the introduction of retransmission consent bills by Reps. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Steve Scalise (R-LA), the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:

The National Association of Broadcasters announced today that local radio and TV stations across America have donated airtime valued at over $26.4 million for NAB's "OK2Talk" mental health public service announcement campaign. This includes more than 231,050 TV and radio airings.

NAB will accept entries for the 2014 NAB Crystal Radio Awards, honoring outstanding community service, beginning January 1, 2014. Established in 1987, the Crystal Radio Awards bring national recognition to radio stations for their year-round commitment to serving their communities. To enter, a station must submit their online entry describing their community service efforts for the 2013 calendar year.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to the FCC's release of a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on the sports blackout rule, the following statement may be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton:

The National Association of Broadcasters announced today it has purchased the assets of the Content and Communications World (CCW) and Satellite Communications Conference and Expo (SATCON) events from JD Events, a leading trade show organizer. CCW and SATCON, held annually in November, are co-located at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. The two events will complement NAB's existing trade shows and events, including NAB Show, held in Las Vegas annually in April.
