Winners of the 2013 National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio Awards were announced Thursday night at the annual NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show held at the Radio Show in Orlando, FL.

NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith recognized radio host and programmer Mamie Shepherd as the winner of the NAB Education Foundation's (NABEF) inaugural Radio Personality Project. The announcement was made at the Opening event of the NAB/RAB Radio Show yesterday in Orlando.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Seven Members of the House of Representatives and one Senator have signed on as co-sponsors of a resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act is now currently co-sponsored by 166 Members of the House and 12 Senators.

WASHINGTON, DC -- In response to Rep. Mel Watt (D-NC) introducing legislation today that would negatively impact local radio stations across America, NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton issued the following statement:

President and General Manager Barry Fisher testified today before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management at a hearing on "FEMA Reauthorization: Ensuring the Nation is Prepared."

NAB Show and World Series of Start-Ups, LLC. today announced that it is accepting applications from startup companies to participate in SPROCKIT 2014, a program that showcases elite emerging companies in media and entertainment and introduces them to industry influencers and decision-makers. SPROCKIT is a year-round program that will kick off at the 2014 NAB Show, the world's largest media and entertainment event with more than 90,000 attendees, to be held April 5-10 in Las Vegas. The National Association of Broadcasters announced that Elisabeth DeMarse, chair, president and CEO of TheStreet, will give the keynote presentation for "TV on Wall Street." The one-day forum, focusing on the financial state of the television ecosystem, will be held October 29 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York in conjunction with NewBay Media's inaugural NYC Television Week.
