The National Association of Broadcasters announced today that radio engineer Frank Foti and television technology innovator Jay Adrick of Harris Corporation have been named the 2013 recipients of the NAB Engineering Achievement Awards. In addition, an NAB Service to Broadcast Engineering award will be presented to Leonard J. Charles, director of engineering, Midwest, at Morgan Murphy Media. The recipients will be honored at the NAB Show Technology Luncheon, sponsored by Ustream, on Wednesday, April 10 in Las Vegas.

Lowell C. McAdam, chairman and chief executive officer of Verizon Communications, will be featured in Tuesday’s General Session on April 9 at NAB Show in Las Vegas, event organizers announced today. The session, entitled "Lowell McAdam: A Candid Conversation," will feature McAdam in a discussion with NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith on his vision for the future of wireless broadband, broadcasting and competition in a multi-platform world.

The Local Radio Freedom Act (H. Con. Res. 16), introduced by Reps. Michael Conaway (R-Texas) and Gene Green (D-Texas), signals opposition to any potential legislation that would impose new performance royalties on broadcast radio stations for music airplay.

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced today that Bob Schieffer, renowned broadcast television journalist for CBS, will receive the NAB Distinguished Service Award (DSA) during the 2013 NAB Show. Schieffer will accept the award at the opening keynote session, sponsored by Blackmagic Design, on April 8 in Las Vegas.
